Show CITY OFFICIALS DELAY VOTE ON RAW MILK BAH Final Decision to Be Made on Mayor's Return Study of the city' health departr ment proposal that sale of raw milk ha banned permanently In Salt Lake City went ahead Friday, with the probability that city commiaaioneri will not reach a decision until next week. The matter was presented to commissioner! com-missioner! last week by Dr. T. J. Howells. health commissioner, after issuance of an emergency order temporarily stopping distribution of city. Commissioners referred the matter mat-ter to the committee of the whole t that time. Due to absence of Mayor E. B. Erwin, now reported returning here from a mayors' conference con-ference at Washington, D. C. the committee has taken no action on the proposal. Meantime, drafting of a proposed ordinance was underway In the city legal department. The rough .drafts of the ordinance are expected to form basis of discussion by the committee com-mittee when It meets. Protests against enactment of such sn ordinance, which reached the commission in volume Thursday, Thurs-day, continued to be received. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Mower, 1408 Denver street, were .the latest protestants. They asked that their family not be deprived of the present sources of raw milk by adoption of an ordinance ordi-nance prohibiting door-to-door distribution dis-tribution of the product. The Mower letter was referred to the department of public affairs, headed head-ed by Commissioner William Murdoch. Mur-doch. F. Henri Henriod. attorney for raw milk dealers, aaid distribution of the product probably would be resumed Saturday by reissuing of permits revoked recently by the board of health. A. C. Merrill, chief sanitarian of the health department, aaid no applications ap-plications for reissuance had been received and that he had received no formal reports herds had bejn found free of disease. |
