Five additional troops from nearby near-by counties were instructed to be ready for duty at a moment's notice. Governor Chandler informed election elec-tion officials he would keep the troops on duty "si long as necesssry for six months if need be." "I am determined to end this reign of terror in Harlan county," the governor gov-ernor was quoted as saying.
