Bailey Is ths Democratic candidate candi-date for'th seat left vacant by th death of Robinson and his opponent oppo-nent in the genersl election October Oc-tober 18 Is Democratic Representative Representa-tive John E. Miller, officially listed list-ed as an Independent. Robinson's widow, Mrs. Ewilds Gertrude Roblneon. Issued a public ststement in support of Miller yesterday, yes-terday, saying the congressmsn "si-wsys "si-wsys cooperated with my husband In mattera of legislation affecting the welfare of Arkansas." This was viewed by many as a partial answer to Bailey's chsrges that Miller opposed many Roosevelt policies snd a few hours after Mrs. Robinson's statement, the governor made th charge that Miller had voted to keep th court proposal from th house floor while Robinson Robin-son fought for the measur. "I tell you now that I will support sup-port all of the principles of Roosevelt Roose-velt without reservation," Bsiley told a Pocahontas sudience. Miller has not mentioned the court proposal in any of his addresses. Speaking at Texarkana last night, he declared: "I sm not running for office on th coat-taila of sny man." |
