Jim started running errands. Joe, as I said, was smart. Unless it pleased his fancy, he wouldn't even start. "You take it if you want It. to Jim he often said. "And wear your legs out running'. run-ning'. I'm going to use my head." Joe was sophisticated: with wisecracks wise-cracks on his lips He scorned the patient plodders and talked of market tips. "Spend all your lifetime working and all the pleasures shun! You'll always pay the grocer, but wont have any fun." And saying this he'd chuckle: "Be honest, patient, true. Then some day if you're lucky you'll own a dime or two." Jim was the foolish brother who worked for what he got. Joe was the smarter fellow who knew just what is what. He laughed at Jim. the plodder, and maybe rightly so, For Jim has spent his lifetime in looking after Joe. The gay, wisecracking Joseph. when iife has cornered him.
