Led by Carlos Soffe, Jordan out-scored out-scored Cyprus from the field, 13 goals to 12, but failed to count on its two free tosses while the Pirates were sinking seven of 13. A short shot by John Kovozovich enabled Cyprus to tie 4-4 in the first period after Jordan had led 4-0 and, after the Beetdiggers had again pulled ahead 8-7, Kovozovich hit the hoop three times and O'Dee Butters and Ray Grow scored to make it 18-10 for the visitors at half time. Kovotovich Scores Soffe and Bennion scored In the first minute of the third period and, after Cyprus had pulled away to a 25-14 lead. Glover and Rasmuaaen scored to make it 23-22 just before the period ended. Jordan went ahead 26-23 as Soffe scored to open the last canto, but Kovozovich paced . a final Pirate spurt to win. Spectacular shooting by Leslie Lougy. and Vaughan Gordon kept Tooele close on the heels of the state champs throughout Lloyd Jones scored 14 points to pace the Granite win.
