Show Ladies' Literary Club Gatherings Of Week Listed Activities for the coming week tt the Ladies' Literary club include meetings as follows: Tuesday at 10 a. m. the civics-parliamentary civics-parliamentary law section will meet. Mrs. W. R. Carter, chairman, will preeide at the brief businsss meeting meet-ing preceding the progrsm. Mrs. Ernest H. Schraga will conduct the lesson on "The Vote." This will be followed by a debate by the University of Utah debaters, undsr direction of Professor Laverne Bane, the question being: "Revolves, that congress should be given the power to enact legislation to provide for minimum wages and maximum hours for Industry." Ths affirmative affirma-tive wiH be taken by David King and Miks Masaoka, and the negative nega-tive by Rhelra Jonee and Albert Jenkins. Luncheon will be served at noon by the entertainment committee, com-mittee, Mrs. Fred A. Clark, chairman, chair-man, assisted by Mrs. Alice D. Williams, Miss Florence Kimball Mra. J. D. Skeen and Mrs. P. H. Malllnckrodt Reservations should be made by Monday with Mrs.' W. R. Carter. Mrs. Frsd A. Clark or Mrs. Roes S. Hartwsll Thursday at 10 a. m. the board of directors will meet In the library li-brary of ths clubhouse. The advisory ad-visory board meeting will follow at 11 a. m. The club president, Mrs. Harry L. Bracken, will preside. pre-side. Thursday at 11 a. m. the arts and crafts section members will meet for a work session. Mrs. Percy Seville, hostess, will be In charge of the plate lunch to be served at 1 p. m. At 2 p. m. a short business busi-ness session will be held, Mrs. Jesse Thompson, chairman, presiding. The program for the afternoon will be presented by Murray B. Allen, executive secretary of the Utah commission for the blind, and will feature a display of the artcraft of the blind and a group of piano selections by Miss Tessie Newton. The club chorus will meet Friday at 12:48 p. m. Friday at 2 p. m. the current events and current literature section sec-tion will hold a brief business meeting, meet-ing, Mrs. Charles N. Fehr, chairman, chair-man, presiding. Professor Levi Edgar Young will appear before the section in a lecture oa "Patriotism." "Pa-triotism." The musical program for the afternoon will feature Miaa Dorothy Dor-othy Cowley In a group of violin solos. |
