Show AMLIE HEARING SET BYSENATE WASHINGTON, Jan. 37 W) A public hearing waa ordered today on President RoossvsH'a appointment appoint-ment if Thomas R. Amlis, Wisconsin Wiscon-sin Progressive, to tha interstate commerce commission. Chairman Wheeler- (D., Mont.) of th senate interstate commerce committee, appointed a subcommittee subcommit-tee of three Democrat and two Republican senators to conduct the hearings. This action was taken after ths full committee had discussed the Amli appointment at a closed session ses-sion lasting an hour and followed by a day adoption by th Wisconsin legislature of a resolution calling Amli a communist and protecting th appointment Mr. Roosevelt himself would not comment on the resolution. In response re-sponse to a question, the president said he had not been aaked for an Interview on th Amtt appointment by a Wisconsin Democ ratio faction. |
