Show Oklahoma City Gets Golf Meet CHICAGO, Jan. 7 (INS) The 1939 westsrn amateur gold tournament tourna-ment today was carded for Oklahoma Okla-homa City starting next July 11. The sits was sslected at a meeting meet-ing of the Western Golf association in Chicago last night At the same time, the western junior tournament was awarded to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, starting June 14. Dates and ths site for the western open will be announced later. Directors of ths association sleeted sleet-ed at the meeting included E. B. Babcock of Los Angeles, Ben Ames of Oklahoma City, E. B. Roberta of Cleveland, J. Harvey Irwin of Atlanta, and T. P. Heffelflnger of Minneapolis. Those named to the nominating committee included Howard Baer of St. Louis, 'R. A. Smith of South Bend. Ind.; Dr. W. L. Crawford of Rockford. III., and Dr. Richmond MrKlnney of Memphis, Tenn. The western amateur ' will be played at ths Oklahoma City Golf and Country club. It will be the second time that city has been the scene of the tournament. The event also was held there in 1934. |
