Stream v w V Truck drivers in Salt Lake City are, In some cases, apparently under the impression that they make their own traffic regulations, a new studv of The Teleffram indicated Saturday. The Telegram conducted Its check at an alley leading Into the north side of Second South street, between Main and Regent streets, and made some surprising findings. Over a 10-minute period, half a do sen trucks and smsller commercial commer-cial vehicles made left turns' into or out of the alley, despite tha fact there is no right granted to make such a turn at that point .. No pavement "button" la placed there to Indicate a left turn la permissible. Usually, making such a turn there meant tying up other vehicles or at least slowing the heavy stream of traffic. Tha alley selected for the check is a typical one. The same conditions condi-tions exist there aa at other alleys In the buslnesa district A motorist driving along the street, usually because of parked cars. Is unable to see a vehicle emerging from the alley, and, when a truck or other commercial vehicle swings out and makes a left turn acroas the atreet. It usually means some motorist has to slam on his brakes. Not a one of the drivers who made the illegal turns during the period covered by the check was stopped by a police officer. In fact, no officer of-ficer waa in sight.
