Show Salt Lake Yoiitlts Battle Officers in Nevada Chase One Wounded in Running Gun Fight; Find Stolen Auto in Possession of Pair Two Salt Lake City youths were captured near Elko late Friday night in a stolen automobile sfter an 80-mile-an-hour chase in which many bullets were fired, Nevada authorities Saturdsy informed Salt Lske City police. One of the youths wss wounded. Ths captured youths, according to Patrolmen T. B. Burbidg and H. A. Peterson of th local police auto theft bureau, were identified by Nevada Ne-vada authorities aa Donald A-nls. about 30, and Ellis Johnson, 1$, of 1543 Weet Ninth South street. No address waa given for Annia. Which of ths pair was wounded also was not known hsre. Presumably, Presuma-bly, it was the driver, for the fleeing flee-ing automobils suddenly swerved off ths road and was wrecked. The car was reported to be that of Verner O. Hewlett of 134S Norman-die Norman-die circle, which wae stolon January 3 from Exchangs place. Sheriff C. A. Harper of Elko, Nov., Saturday phoned an account of the chasa to local police. According to the story, the eheriff and two deputies, A. J. McMurtrey and John Nichols, chased the csr at 30 miles sn hour for miles between Elko and Carlln, Nov. The officers fired many shots at the car before It waa wrecked. Police here are aaid to be preparing pre-paring to seek extradition of the youths. They said that Johnson has a Juvsnils court record and was formerly sn Inmste of the Utah state industrial school at Ogden. i |
