Show 20,501 BOOKS ARE NOW IN THE LIBRARY At a meeting of the board of directors of the free publlo library held this morning morn-ing bills to the amount of $769.69 were approved ap-proved and ordered paid; a contract was made with L F. Hamel to supply the library li-brary with periodicals for the coming year, and the report of the librarian waa read and adopted. The amount ot the credit of the library fund In the city treasury was found to be SJ226.99. The members of the board present at the meeting were: George Pyper, T. O. Webber, H. C. Hill and Mesdamea Dart, Richards, Miller and Hempstead. During December 244 volumes were added, add-ed, 66 of which were fiction. Total number num-ber of volumes In the library on December 1 was 20.300; total number of volumes accessioned ac-cessioned was 244; those discarded and lost, 43, leaving the totau number of volumes vol-umes on January 1st, 20,501. . The total membership of the library on January 1st. 19"3, was 9333; books loaned for home use, 9u49; books Issued In reading read-ing rooms, 55i)S; number of dally visitors estimated at 560. The total receipts for the month were $56.02. derived from the following sources: Fines, $49.44; lost books, $3.00; reserve book postals, $3.58. |
