Show TOO DRUNK TO GET LICENSE The man was about 36 years old, he was well dressed and also drunk. The woman was about 2s years old. She was well dressed and she, too, had evidently been drinking. Chief Engineer Lyons was operating the city and county building elevator, and was seated In the corner of the car Monday. The man and woman entered the car. They embraced effusively. "Let's sit down, honey," said the man. They sat on Chief Engineer Lyon's lap. "We want to go to the marriage clerk," they chorused. T. B. Davis, who usually Issues the marriage licenses, was on duty and asked what they wished. County Clerk James saw their condition. con-dition. "Now. look here." he said, as one speaking; in authority, "you cannot get a license here while you are in that condition." "Thash all right, Jamesy," warbled the man. "I voted for you two years ago. and by I will get thlsh Hcensh." He was promptly ordered out of the office. The girls in the office screamed. The woman finally induced her prospective pros-pective "hubby" to retire peaceably. He wejit, saying to her: "Leah get two three more drinks an we'll come back an' get that licensh or clean out the office." |
