Show REPORTS ON CUTWATER SupL Hincs Urges That a Number of Reforms Be Inaugurated The annual report of Frank L. Hlnes, superintendent of the city waterworks, was filed with Mayor Morris Saturday. The report shows the amount expended for the maintenance of the department during: the year 1904 to have been $51,-657.09, $51,-657.09, a decrease of I10OL1S over the preceding; year. Of the entire amount $27,124.55 was expended for maintenance of the system and $13,118.99 for plant and equipment. The balance was for Incidentals which are named In the report. re-port. " - . The report shows the system to be In good condition In City creek. Parley's and Emigration canyons. Superintendent Hlnes recommends .that the wooden tanks at the hlghline and the Twentieth ward tank be replaced re-placed with cement tanks, as the old ones are In a dilapidated condition. It is recommended that all pipe below six Inches be taken up and replaced with pipe not less than six inches, and that all "dead ends" throughout the system be closed as rapidly as possible. This will permit bettep circulation of water and do away with the large expense of flushing;. The report further recommends that the county pay for the water which it uses at the joint building and grounds and at the county Jail; also that the city graveyard pay for the water used the same as others, and that a charge be made for the water used by hospitals, hos-pitals, churches and for building purposes pur-poses as is done In other cities. |
