Or., Jan. it The Jury sitting on the case of George Sorenson, tried for attempting to bribe former United States District Attorney Hall' in an effort to have him hush the land frauds cases in this State, reported to Judge Bellinger today that it was IS! possible for the Jurors to agree upon a verdict. . In discharging the Jury Judge Bellinger Bellin-ger called the attention of Francis J. Heney, who is prosecuting the land frauds cases for the Government, to the failure of the Jury to agre on a verdict in the face of evidence, which Judge Bellinger said warranted but one verdict ver-dict that of conviction. 1 The court urged Mr. Heney to summon sum-mon the members of the Jury before the Federal grand Jury that a thorough investigation of the matter might be had. |
