Show FRAUD IN PUEBLO jOne Hundred Indictments . Arc Returned by the Grand Jury. PUEBLO, Colo., Jan. 2L The grand Jury, which has for two month been investigating the election frauds la Pueblo Pueb-lo county, reported to-lhs court yesterday and was discharged. . One hundred , new indictments -were returned. . The grand Jury, - on- which Democrats and Republic bad equal representation, representa-tion, reports the discovery of a conspiracy, conspir-acy, with Its fountainbead in Denver, to control the election in .this county by corrupt methods. ". ' "We learn." says the" report, - "that nearly tfOO foreigners received naturalisation naturalisa-tion papers during September and October, Octo-ber, 1904, from the County court, and, in many instance they -' were Issued to aliens who had never even applied for their first papers, but were tasked to them as minors who had been in this country from two months to two years." - The Jury petitions the court to bring the evidence of fraudulent naturalisations naturalisa-tions to the attention of the United Btates District court and the United States District Attorney. The jury found that the registration books were padded to the extent of at least 1000 names. Continuing the report says that spurious spuri-ous registration sheets were prepared under un-der the direction of N. 8. Walpole, recently re-cently appointed, postmaster, and deputies In the County Clerk's office, mentioning W. E. Ennls, Percy H. Ely and Oscar Q. McNeil, and by City Detective W. E. Wilson. It declares that typewritten con- fesslons hsve been made by some of the men Indicted. Indictments are returned against all the men named. The grand Jury wss in session for nearly near-ly forty days and returned In all 267 In-oictroents, In-oictroents, all charging irregularities and crimes in the last election. |
