The committee appointed to Investigate Investi-gate the bounty frauds reported to the House Friday afternoon that as Senate Sen-ate bill No. 10. had already passed the Senate under a suspension of the rules, they wished to withdraw House bill No. 49 and substitute the Senate bill, which, is exactly the same. This was allowed. Wilson of Wasatch introduced a motion mo-tion that a Joint committee, consisting of -three members from the House and three from the Senate,' be named to confer con-fer with a like committee from the surrounding States and Territories, regarding re-garding a uniform bounty law. Thompson Thomp-son had a similar motion but Wilson's was the one that carried. ' Joseph then moved that the framing of .he new law be left to the committee commit-tee now investigating the bounty frauds. I J,I object to that," said Wilson. "I've heard some peculiar talk about some of the Senators on that committee and I don't want them fooling with that bounty law." Wilson's remarks were npt liked by McCrea and Panter, both men taking exception to them as casting reflections on the Senatorial members of the committee. com-mittee. Wilson denied that he meant this, saying that he had .merely heard that one or two of them were against any bounty law. V In spite of Wilson's objections the House voted that the Joint committee draft the new bill. Some of the House members have the idea that if a committee report is adopted adopt-ed that the House Is bosnd to abide by the report on any measure when It comes np for a vote. When the bounty frauds committee reported Friday recommending rec-ommending that House bill 49 "be withdrawn with-drawn and Senate bill 10 be substituted, the report carried a recommendation that the.Senate bill be passed. Wilson and several others objected on account of the recommendation, and the committee com-mittee was forced to withdraw the report re-port and strike out the offending recommendation. rec-ommendation. Speaker Hull, has explained ex-plained that the adoption of a report does not mean that the House -must act favorably on It but certain members persist in believing that a trap is being be-ing laid for their unwary feet. REPEAL OF BOUNTY LAW IS DEFEATED BY THE HOUSE. After two hours spent in a discussion of the merits and demerits pf the bounty law the House voted Friday against the repeal of the law as it stands, there being but 18 ayes to 24 nays on the rollcall.
