Stocks were offered freely during the first half hour. United I States Steel preferred, Brooklyn Transit and other leading specialties were depressed de-pressed and the standard railroads declined de-clined . large fractions. The market became be-came very quiet. V , There was little change during the second sec-ond hour from the low level established during the first hour, but the tendency was to droop' slightly.
