Show Treaty Not Satisfactory. . 6T. JOHN. N. F., April 18. The text of the Anglo-French colonial treaty has not yet been published here. The second clause of the French shore arrangement cbliges French and British fishermen to terminate their operations by October 20th this year. This clause would prevent New Foundland fisherman from fishing during . six months of the year, and would debar their prosecution of the winter herring fishery at Bay of Islands and Bonne bay, . io which the United States and Candian vessels resort for herring cargoes. The New Foundland Government will not . guarantee the ratification of the treaty, unless this defect b remedied. |
