Show MYSTERY IN DEATH OF OGDEN MAN AND WIFE Tragic End of Mr. and Mrs. C J. Stone" May . Be Either Murder or Suicide. XK3DEN. Utah. April 18. Mr. and Mrs. C. 3. Stone, whq for some' time had been living in a room at the lodging-house of Mrs. Myers, in the Beit-man Beit-man bldfck, corner of Twenty-second street and Washington avenue, were found locked in each other's arms at 9 o'clock last night. - Stone was dead and Mrs. Stone was dying of poison. At first it was believed to have been a case of double suicide, but later developments de-velopments led the police to believe that Stone had been murdered by his wife, who afterward poisoned herself. When found. Stone had been dead for several hours, and his wife died only a few minutes after the room door had been burst in by the police, who were notified that something was wrong In the room. Both Stone and his wife were fully dressed, and a picture of the woman was on a trunk near the bed. There were also three letters, one addressed to the dead woman's sister, one "To Whom It May Concern." and the other without an address. The latter was a long statement of family troubles. All of the letters were in the woman's handwriting. Mrs. Stone was of Indian descent and Insanely Jealous. Thin together with other circumstances, led the police to conclude that she poisoned him and, after his death, killed herself in the same way. - . Stone's first wife was dead, and his two children were in charge of his sister-in-law, who had become very much attached to them. Stone refused to take his second wife to the old home, and this caused a disagreement. They had quarreled bitterly over his refusal to give her his children or to take her to his old home. Mrs. Stone was known to be Jealous- of Stone's first wife's sister. sis-ter. When the police broke Into the room, Mrs. Stone was breathing heavily, but infrequently. An empty morphine box was found on the trunk with the letters and pictures.. All of the letters betray Jealousy of the sister-in-law, and state that the two agreed to end their lives lest they be separated. . Mrs. Stone left a written request that telegrams be sent to the following, who are supposed to be her mother and brothers: Mrs. D. B. Wyath, Wellington, Welling-ton, Kan., mother; W. L. Shole. Fort Worth. Tex.; J. A. Shole, Wichita, Kan.; Luther Shole, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mr. and Mrs. L. Shole. Billings, O. T. A. I. Stone sent the- messages as requested. re-quested. Stone was well known in Ogden. His mother, Mrs. Sarah Stone, resides here. A brother is in Idaho, and .another brother. Bernard, is an employee of the Ogden Street Railway company.
