Show CLUB IS FORMED; WILL OPPOSE SCORCHING A number of the prominent automobile enthusiasts pf the city net at -the garage of the Salt Lake Automobile company Monday evening and organised aa auo club. After a abort Informal dlacusalon the following officers were elected: O. H. j Hewlett, president; Samuel Nswhouse. first vice-president; Mrs. J. Tanrln Har- : rla, second vice-president ; Dr. H. 8. Scott, secretary., and Henry McCornlck. treasurer. These ladies- and- gentlemen, together with Mr. and Mrs. LeRoi Snow, Jr., C. H. Wilkes and Mrs. F. B. McQur rin, form the board of directors. The purpose of the club is the advanve-ment advanve-ment of the sport in this city and the securing se-curing of better roads. The members of the elub will join with the horsemen of the city in petitioning the City Council for the Improvement of the roads. They will ask that. several streets be Improved and kept in condition for the especial use of auto cars and light driving vehicle, but if they can get anything out of the City Council they will convince the city that the days of miracles are not passed. They wilt also agitate the Improvement of county roads especially those between this city and Provo. The question of scorching on the road was thoroughly dlscnseed and every member mem-ber of the club was opposed to It. It la possible that the club will have a patrol . officer to guard against this habit In the businessdistricts. ' |
