Show SALT LAKE MEN HELD AS SUSPECTS I CALIENTE. Nov.. Jan. 10.-6hertff Jake Johnson, who has been after the highwaymen high-waymen who held up Redden and Hall Brothers last Monday night was led to believe that his men were camping at Grassy Springs, eight miles east of D La Mar. and on Saturday morning at daybreak rounded up his men while they were sleeping In a deserted shack. and brought them to Calient, One of the men who had been relieved of $380 was called to Identify the suspects, but although the resemblance was marked.' both in general appearance and clothing, h stated positively that they were not the men who had held him up. Th Sheriff tfcereoa turned the men loose, and having heard of two suspicious men camping near Conway ranch, four miles below Calient, sent Deputy Sheriff Monahan down the line Saturday night In company with Redden, one of the men robbed, who identified one of the men positively aa having beeen a party to the hold-up." The deputy brought both men to Caliente. and Sheriff Johnson went down to their camp and searched the premises- thoroughly for the missing money. The men's names are Kmmett O'Ntell and Louis Byer, both of Salt Lake City. The case was set for trial at 10 o'clock January I, but continued at request of the Stat for subpoenas. |
