Show MONEY FOR POLICE-FUND Unidentified Coin From Iroquois Fire Goes, to Pension Fund. CHICAGO, Dec. 31. Money found in the Iroquois theater after the flre has been turned over by Christian DeWitt Regler to Controller McCann, the required re-quired year of holding for claimants having passed. The box full of coins and the envelopes envel-opes containing charred bank notes and bits of bills are valued at $230, and will go to the police pension fund. Many of the coins were burned or crushed until almost unrecognizable. A $20 gold piece still showed bright spots through marks of flre. A hole was burned through one packet of $5 bills. There was $79 in redeemable bank notes, $S6 in coins in seventy-nine purses and $115 in loose coins. Two charred bits, believed to be parts of $50 bills, probably will defy identification and redemption by the Government. In addition there is a diamond weighing half a carat. Delivery of coins and purses has been going on for a year upon identification by relatives of owners. |
