Show BARKER 'WINS GOLF TOIRNEY AT BUTTE The annual tournament of the Butte Country club is over and tha trophies of victory are borne off by Mr. Barker, who is well known to golfers in this city, ' having ' accompanied the Butte team to this city last season. This year he played opposite Robert Harkness In the annual inter club match and defeated defeat-ed that gentleman decisively. The main- peculiarity of Mr. Barker's play Is that he never uses a wooden club. Ha drives with a cleek and gets astonishing results with that club. The cleek he uses Is made especially for him, and closely approaches a sixteen-pound sixteen-pound hammer In weight. Mr. Barker Is a big powerful man, and frequently drives 225 yards. His long gams la terrific. ter-rific. Tor he gets a distance on his Iron shots which can only be equaled by a drive or a brassy shot, and every golfer knows that a player gets much better direction with an Iron than with a wooden ciub. - |
