The Retail Grocers and Butchers' association as-sociation will listen to an address by Fisher Harris,' secretary of the Commercial Com-mercial club, Wednesday night on "The Benefits of Association." The meeting will be held at the association's headquarters head-quarters In the Jennings block, beginning begin-ning at 8:15. At this meeting a report is expected from the committee appointed to look Into the butter question. There will also al-so be reports from various merchants and from the secretary of the association associa-tion that may bring up Interesting discussions. dis-cussions. It la the purpose of the association to take up the flour question and Insist that millers shall give' full weight. It Is charged that in some cases sacks of flour marked fifty pounds contain not more than forty-seven pounds, often less. -. An effort will-also be made to secure some action requiring all egg dealers who candle eggs to mark them plainly on the package with the word "Storage," "Stor-age," so that the retailer may not be deceived and thus sell rehandled eggs for the real fresh hen fruit. It is claimed that retailers suffer much loss from this source, and a strong effort will be made to correct the evil. Every grocer and butcher in the city is urged to attend the meeting of the. association Wednesday night. United and harmonious action is desired along all the lines Indicated. |
