Show BEST MAN ARDENT; . BRIDEGROOM ANGRY Benjamin Lewis and Edith Williams, both colored, applied at the office of the County Clerk for a marriage license on Wednesday. They were accompanied by the best man, who had gone along as a witness. After securing the license they asked Deputy Clerk Smith to marry them. The knot was soon tied. Then the best man, as per custom, proceeded pro-ceeded to kiss the bride. Nay, he did more; he hugged her. To those present it appeared to be a long, fond embrace. In fact, U continued ao long that the bridegroom bride-groom objected, and objected strongly. For a few minutes it looked as if there would be trouble. Peace waa restored and the happy couple went their way. The best man left the office a few minutes later. |
