As a result re-sult of an automobile accident which occurred oc-curred in the suburbs of the city at an early hour this morning, Humphrey Praed, assistant general manager of the San Jacinto Ja-cinto Land company of Riverside. Cal., is dead, and Mlsa Mina Rudolph, leading lady of the "San Toy" opera company, and C. S. Fry. chauffeur, are seriously if not tatally hurt. Praed was running the machine, when It went over' an embankment, overturning and pinning the occupants beneath. Praed was Instantly killed and Miss Rudolph Ru-dolph and Fry were so seriously hurt that, they were unable to go for assistance. The accident occurred near an electric car line and all'were soon picked up. At the receiving hospital here it was found that Miss Rudolph was suffering from concussion of the brain and other Injuries In-juries of a serious character. It Is feared that she may also be injured Internally. She was removed this morning to the Angel An-gel us hotel, where she was staying. The attending physicians state that she will recover. Fry sustained only minor Injuries. ' Praed was a young man. 28 years old and unmarried. He was prominent in the city in which he resided and his mother. Mm. Campbell Praed, is a well-known literary lit-erary woman. The family Is a wealthy one. the members of which reside In England. Eng-land. MISS RUDOLF IS NOT THE LEADING- WOMAN, SAtfs AGENT BANNON. Business Manager Pat Bannon of the "San Toy" company, who is in Salt Lake, said this morning: "Miss Rudolf Is not 1 I MINA RUDOLF. the leading woman of the "San Toy" roniiH- part Is held by Miss Mar garet McKlnney. a,.,-n by Miss Rudolf is the title role, but is not so important that it cannot be taken by her understudy. "The accident is a deplorable one and I am very sorry that Miss Rudolf was injured. in-jured. She is a charming little at tress, and I sincerely hope that she will be all right in a short time." |
