The decline In New York continued to be the feature of the morning call on the local lo-cal exchange Thursday. This decline seems to be duo not so much to the heavy short interest which has been developed, but by the reports from Psrk City and the action of the Park City speculators. Outside of fhe professional traders, nearly the entire short Interest Is represented by Park City people. The officers of the company com-pany are nearly all residents of Park City and while they have been very reticent about the property and the reported strikes. It Is quite possible that some information in-formation has leaked out In Park City. INTEREST IN ST. IVES, . SOLD FOB LARGE SUM. Auditor A. D. The trading on the , mining exchange . Thursday was active in some few stocks, but the list was limited to the more sen-satlonal sen-satlonal securities. They are now working hard at this lease, and while they have not been In possession long enough to determine whether It will prove as productive of the yellow metal as have the other bonanzas '. of the district, the indications are very favorable. The drift on the 2100-foot level of the - Mammoth of Tintle which is being run Into the ore body has not yet reached its Objective point, but the work is being shoved as fast as possible and will be completed within the next month, when ' the work of stoplng ore from that source will be Inaugurated. Not only Is the Mammoth Mam-moth running the usual amount of gold i-ie through the mill, but it is shipping . tte higher grade to this market and is also sending a nice amount of lead ore and some copper to this market. The company had a lot of each on the market Thursday, the gold ore running fifty-nine ounces gold and 4.85 ounces silver per ton. WILL OPEN TJP THE GRAND GULCH PROPERTY. Ie Jennings left for Moapa Thursday night for the purpose of starting up work en the Grand Gulch copper property in . the Utah-Arizona strip. The property has ' been closed down for over a year waiting for closer connections with the railroad. .The haul io Moapa Is now about fifty-five miles and the ore is so high grade that it can be rhipped this distance at a nice , profit The first work which Mr. Jen- - nlngs will do Is to put the road from the mine to Moapa In shape, after which the main shaft on the property, which is now 170 feet deep, will be continued down to a depth of 800 feet. TINE STRIKE MADE IN PIOCHE-NEVADA CON. Another strike has been ' made in the - Ptoche-Nevada Con. So much fine ore has been uncovered In that property that It has become almost a steady thing for a new ore tody to be opened, but the last strike is of such magnitude that it has gxided materially to the already great resources re-sources of the mine. Some time ago a platform was put into - the main shaft at a depth of sixty feet and a drift started from that point to explore ex-plore the country. This drift has now broken itno a solid body of galena ore which runs 46 per cent lead and carries the same values of silver which has made the ore of Pioche such a valuable product - In times past. The entire drift Is In ore, and the face is solid galena. Not enough work has as yet been done . te determine the extent of the find, but it Is certain that the body is more than five |
