Show HUNTING FORFRAUDS New York Detectives oil Trail of the "Get-Rich-Quick" Concerns. . NEW YORK, Feb. 18. Central office detectives are scouring the city today in search of "get-rich-qulck" firms. They are making a canvas3 of all the big office buildings on Lower Broadway and in Wall street. Wherever they see the word "Investment" on an office door .they make inquiries concerning the business bus-iness of the firm occupying that office. "There are more of these fellows," Detective Langan said today. "I am going to get them if I can. It is not easy to locate them. They rent expensive expen-sive offices in big buildings, and the signs on the office doors are not always indicative of the business that is going on Within. Most of these fellows we have caught to date , we had pointed out to us through the complaint of someone who has been swindled. "A great majority of the victims in these turf swindles are women who have been speculating without the knowledge of their husbands or families. fam-ilies. We have found, too, that quite a number of young boys and girls employed em-ployed In downtown offices have been customers of these concerns, and we are trying to get some of these persons to prosecute the 'get-rlch-quick' men." |
