Show OLD PLACER CAMP s WIPED OFF THE MAP Montana City, Where Many Nuggets Were Taken, Totally Destroyed by Fire. EAST HELENA, May 20. Montana Mon-tana City, four miles south of here, at one time cne of the most famous placer camps in Montana, from which more gold nuggets of large size have been taken than any district in the State, was totally destroyed byfire Sunday. The camp has been deserted for a long time and Its loss was discovered only today. - Once a city of 4000 people, with a daily paper, first-class hotels and fine streets, the camp had sunk and sunk until for the past decade it had been entirely en-tirely abandoned. It Is thought the fire was the work of incendiaries, as tramps on the road from Helena to Butte were In the habit of stopping at the deserted cabins and making themselves at home.
