" The Bank of Commerce had a large amount of money, both specie and currency, cur-rency, in its vaults, and many of the depositors were besieging Cashier E. W. Wilson this morning with queries concerning the condition of the vaults. - Through the courtesy of Walker; Brothers' bank, ashler Wilson opened an office In that bank this morning, where he will conduct the business of the firm until other quarters can be secured. . ' While Cashier Wilson will not state the amount of money there is in the vaults It Is believed that about $75,000 will be recovered when the vaults .are opened. This represents all the cash on hand, . Cashier Wilson made the following statement to The Telegram this morning: "Our depositors need have no fear regarding the safety of the money in our care. Every dollar, and every book and paper of the bank is absolutely safe. The valuables of the bank were kept in an absolutely fire-proof and burglar-proof burglar-proof vault, and there are no grounds for fear of loss. Everything will be found when the vault Is opened. Just as we left it when we locked up last night. . "The safety deposit boxes are also safe, and were fully protected from fire.
