Show $25,500 FOR A PAINTING 1 - More Than $250,000 Realized Real-ized for the Lyall Art Collection. NEW YORK, Feb. 11. At the sale held In Mendelssohn hall of the art collection of David C Lyall of Brooklyn, nineteen water colors, eighty-five oils and one pastel pas-tel sold for $251,045. The highest figure was li5.B00, paid for Jules Breton's oil painting. ' La Kin Du Travail." Alphonse De Neuvllle's "The Destruction Destruc-tion of the Telegraph Line" boupht $12,0. It is understood that this picture is to go to the Pittsburg art gallery. The water colors brought moderate prices until the first of the Millets was offered, and though this was a tiny bjt of water color, it brought, after spirited bidding, 23un. Thdodore Rousse's "The Oak Sunset" went for $5W0, and a Corot, "Near the Sea." brought f?M. It was understood that both pictures went to Senator Clark, who wus present with his family. Other prices ranged from 60 to $20,000. |
