The one hundred and second anniversary anniver-sary of the birth of Brigham Young, the second president of the Mormon church, and founder of Utah, is being celebrated today with appropriate services both in the city and at Saltalr beach. At 10:30 o'clock this morning the Brig-ham Brig-ham Toung Memorial building of the Latter-day Saints university was dedicated dedi-cated in the presence of a large crowd. The programme was as follows: Anthem, "Zion's Come to Earth Again" Temple Choir Invocation ..MaJ. R. W. Young Dedicatory hymn Temple Choir Dedication prayer President Joseph F. Smith Baritone solo, selected... .John Robinson Remarks . President Anthon H. Lund Solo and chorus,. "Only Remembered" Miss Lottie Owen and Choir The exercises were closed with a benediction ben-ediction by President John R. Winder. At Saltalr the exercises will begin at J:30 o'clock and the following programme pro-gramme will be rendered: Music .' Provo Academy Brass Band Selection - Temple Choir Invocation President Angus M. Cannon Solo and chorus ; Mrs. Maggie Hull and Choir Oration Bishop O. F. Whitney Selected music Orchestra Comic duet Messrs. George Margetts and Sid Clawson. Youn Indications are that fully five thousand thou-sand persons will be at the lake tonight, when a dancing programme will be given. 1 The city presents a gala appearance, as nearly all the decorations placed in honor of President Roosevelt's visit were made to do treble duty, remaining for Memorial day and today's celebration. |
