Show IMPALED ON IRON FENCE j Tramp Falls From Sloop and Is Dangerously Injured. . NEWARK. N. J., May IS. Thomas Collins, a tramp, arrived here after a long ride on a freight train. To get something ; to eat he began to beg. asking for something at the back doors of houses. v After numerous refusals he decided to try the front doors and with great ef- i fort dragged himself up the stoop' of a large house. After resting a few seconds, sec-onds, Collins pushed the electric bell. I While waiting he was overcome by weakness, became dizzy and toppled over backward. He attempted to grasp the balustrade, but was unable to hold on and fell over it. He landed on top of an iron picket fence and was impaled im-paled upon one of its sharp points which went deep Into the upper part of his body and penetrated hia left lung. He was! taken to the city hospital, where physicians declared his . injury to be dangerous In itself, "but more so on account of bis weakened condition. |
