Stacks of pamphlets, emanating from Salt Lake City, "are being distributed, setting forth the objections to the seating cf the Mormon high churchman in the Senate, and are being read earnestly by all who get them. The Smoot question will undoubt- edly be Injected Into the proceedings of the general assembly early in the session, and some warm speeches are expected on the subject. Strong resolutions are expected to be passed against allowing Apostle Smoot to retain his seat in the Senate, and covering the Mormon question in gen- eral. Many of the delegates have come through Salt Lake City, where . they made personal Investigations and became imbued with the idea of making the Presbyterian church's position on the question as strong as possible. ! . . - ' fflffiffl Seven hundred or more Presbyterian .ministers who are en route to the assembly as-sembly at Lps Angeles, spent yesterday yester-day and a portion of today in Salt Lake. This statement was also made by one of the speakers at yesterday's meeting, the Rev. N. E. Clemenson of Logan, in an address on "Mormon Theology."
