PROVO: A number of fruit growers of FTovo and vicinity have prepared a petition peti-tion to be presented to the Board of County Commissioners, asking that the Board appoint a county board of horticulture, horticul-ture, m accordance with section 7 of the nw horticultural law. in order to protect pro-tect the fruit growers against the numerous nu-merous slseases and insects injurious to - fruit trees which exist in the county.' MAMMOTH: Joseph Holiday, who. was found guilty of buying stolen Junk from the bors of Mammoth and Robinson, was fined by Justice Barnett. Holiday, after being locked up in the Jail at Eureka Eu-reka for flay, paid his fine and was released. re-leased. The officers are determined to put a stop to the purchase of stolen property prop-erty by the Junk men of the district. ET'REKA: The residence of Brlgham Pteele of Eureka was destroyed by tire fietorday. i Two children were alone In. the hoase when the tire broke out. and . it is supposed that they were playing with macebes and ignited the curtains. One ef them hid in the. house and had a narrow escape from death. When discovered dis-covered the child was unconscious, and slightly burned. The father ran with it to a physician, 'who revived it- The house and contents are a total loss. The contract for ballding the same was Saturday Sat-urday awarded, to Grace Bros, of Nephi, they being the lowest bidders. It will eonsiFt of eight classrooms, two' of which will , form an assembly-room, and is to cost J10.400. Of this amount the sebtibl board has -on hand about one-third, and will bond the district for the remainder, as the heuee is to finished by September 15th. RICHFIELD: The Richfield Develop- - ment company has appropriated all the percolating waters ef Cottonwood creek northwest of the city. The company's paramouat object Is to develop water for a large area of now arid land Just north and west of this city. Already a 250-foot 250-foot tunnel has been driven into the foothill foot-hill a mile northwest of the city.- and the promoters are confident they will tap a big flow of water. .LEHI: The past week has been closing week wich the Lent public schools. On Thursday they rendered ,a programme in the tabernacle, the primary grades occupying occu-pying the forenoon and the grammar grades the afternoon. The programme . consisted 'of class songs, speeches, solos, clas representations and presentation of certificates of promotion, all the grades participating except the eighth and the rinth, which will give a special programme pro-gramme tn the tablemacle on the 23rd, at which time Prof. Stewart will deliver de-liver an address to the graduates.
