Show MOJTAT SURVEYORS NOW LOOTING ITS ROUTE ALONG PROVO tANVtiN I A party of about twenty men are surveying a route for the Moffat road down tne south fork of the Provo river. They have been working their way in this direction, direc-tion, since leaving the Duchesne valley, for several weeks. The route so far picked out by this party, according to the report of the engineer, crosses over from Colorado and strikes the Green river at its junction with the Duchesne. From this point it follows the natural grade of the Duchesne Du-chesne river northwestward up the Duchesne valley for seventy miles. Thence it takes a more westerly course up Wolfe Creek canyou for ten miles to its head. Here a three-mile tunnel has been projected, which leads out on the south fork of the Provo river. The operations of the surveying party are watched with interest by the people of that section. The line followed fol-lowed so far follows the natural grade of the stream, and it is believed it will be the route formally decided upon. In a few days the party will be well down the Provo river, and then it will be known whether the route will follow the Provo river down to Provo or will turn to the right across the Kamas bench and come direct to Salt Lake. |
