Show EDNA PRESCOTT LIKELY TO DIE Victim, of Martin's Alleged Assault in Serious Condition; Condi-tion; Murder May Br Charged. It is likely that L. C. Martin, who ia now confined in the county jail in default de-fault of $3000 bail on a charge of assault as-sault with a deadly weapon with intent to eommit murder, ,will have to answer to a charge of murder. The physician in charge of Edna Prescott, whom Martin is charged with having struck in the head with a rock on the morning of November 10, reports this morning that her condition is serious seri-ous and that she will probably die. The condition of the Prescott woman has been growing worse for several days, according to the report received from her bedside, and she has been in a semi-conscious condition for a number of days, during whieh time she has lost her eyesight. While the physician In attendance still holds out hope of the woman living, liv-ing, he is of the opinion that, even, if she recovers, her brain will be permanently perma-nently affected as the result of the blow received. The assault is alleged to have been: committed in front of the house, rear of - 243 South Main street, which the Prescott woman conducts. , v |
