Show LAY CORNER-STONE OF ROWLAND HALL The Bight Bev. E. 8. Spalding, bishop of the Episcopal diocese" of this district, conducted, the laying of the corner-stone of the new Rowland hall yesterday afternoon. af-ternoon. George M. Marshall of the University of Utah was the principal speaker. At 3:30 o'clock the pupils marched from the old building to the lawn, where a drill was given. The faculty of the school and the . clergy of the Episcopal church in Salt Lake, with the speaker of the day, occupied places on the platform. Bishop Spalding read responsive exercises, ex-ercises, the apostles' creed and the Lord 'a prayer. A hymn was sung while the workmen were placing the atone. The program and the list of the articles to be deposited were announced, a procession pro-cession was then formed and marched past the corner-stone, makitfe the deposits, de-posits, which included a list of the Salt Lake clergy, the pupils and teachers of the school, 1906 curriculum, editors of the local newspapers, a prayer-book and hymnal, a copy of the Church Monitor and 1966 coins. Prof. Marshall then delivered the address ad-dress of the day. |
