Show HIGHEST PRICE FOR " LEMONS IN HEW YORK The highest price ever obtained in New York City for a ear of California lemons was realized last week, when 138 cases of - three' hundreds brought from $9,871-3 to $10 per case. This means a wholesale price of about 36 cents per dozen and a retail price of not less than 60 cents per dozen. The same brand of fruit sold on the Salt Lake market last week for $7.25, and is now selling at $7.50 per case. The difference in the freight rate between be-tween Salt Lake and New York is but 50 centsxper case. ' This is an evidence that the local wholesale dealers are buying as close or closer than the New York dealer, or else he does not hold his trade up as much as does the Gotham merchant. |
