Show FRESIWEN WIN IM COLLEGE FLAG RUSH The third annual flag-rush between tbe freshmen and sophomores of tbe State university resulted in victory for the freshmen. Tbe final score of 50 to 36 6bows tbe number of hands on tba flatr after tne minutes' rushinp. The officials were L. A. Snow and Capt. Hills, timekeepers; Capt. Fred Bennion. referee, Vernon. Jerbet, um: pire. The freshmen, while lighter, had more men and finally won from the sophomores, who had large, strong hus-kiei. hus-kiei. Tbe rush waged fast and furious from -start to. .finish. The . fTeshmen were lined up. op. one side, the sophomores sopho-mores on tbe other. When, the referee blew his whistle, boih. sides . rushed, to tbe aid of their three flagmen, who had hold of the flag. Tbe strife was on. For several minutes neither side iad the advantage. Finally the younger classmen, who, because of their greater number, had fresh men to relieve tha tired ones, were seen to gain. After ten minutes tbe freshmen, since they had more bands on the flag, were given the decision and tbe keeping of th emblem for 1906-07. |
