Show NEW GOLD DISCOVERY ! . .' IN OSCEOLA REGION V , . James .Chipman has returned from a pilgrimage 'to the booming mining camp of Osceola, - which Is .about forty-five miles distant from .Ely, In . White Pine -county, Nevada. Mr. Chipman-' tells , an Interesting story of one of the numerous propositions that are being developed In that mineral belt; and especially of the one which is located In Snake valley, about nine miles east of Osceola, on the west side of the range, mentioned In yev terday's TLEGRAM. The discovery was made in the valley at the foot of the mountain, and when opened up showed a ledge of eight feet in width Impregnated with gold. Following the lead op the mountain side at another point there was uncovered twenty feet on the ledge, while still further up the mountain side the ledge was again found in place, exposing vein matter six feet in width. - There is considerable excitement In that country over tne, discoveries of gold that have been made1, and there are a number of prospectors rushing into the country from every point. Rock containing contain-ing free gold can be picked up at almost any spot, and during the early days It Is a matter of. record that there- were a great many thousands taken out by the pioneers with hand rockers. , |
