Show ' In but one other city In the United States would such a gathering; be possible pos-sible as that which waa held at the cafe of the Emery-Holmes last night. The occasion was the annual reunion and banquet of the Veteran Odd Fellows' association of Utah. The only other organization of the kind in the United (States is at St. Louis. .Every member of the association has been an Odd Fel low for twenty-five years of continuous membership," unbroken by lapse or de-llnquence. de-llnquence. The local association was formed two years ago and has a membership of thirty-six. Of this number twenty-four gathered together last night to give words of cheer and good fellowship to their brother members. Most of those present were considerably past middle life, yet one would not have thought so to listen to their response to the toasts that were called for: Each was a young man again as he recited his early joining join-ing of the lodge. . . One notable fact In connection with the organization is that not a member has died since it was "organized. The .present officers of the association are: Rudolph Alff. chief veteran; W. J-Moore, J-Moore, secretary and ' treasurer; T. C. Waltensplel, B. D. Blackmarr, Albert Fisher, . B. Berryman and L. L. Baum-garten, Baum-garten, executive committee.' In keeping with their years of faithful faith-ful service the members were prompt in arriving at the banquet hall. The menu was excellent and the service faultless. fault-less. Chief Veteran Alff acted as toast-master toast-master and first " called on the Rev. Peter A. Simpkln. Rev. Mr. Slmpkln Is not a member of the association, but he is grand secretary of the Utah lodges of the order. His address of fifteen minutes was listened to with marked attention. Following Rev. Mr. Slmpkln memDers oi me association responded briefly to toasts as they were called for. The gathering broke, up at 11:30 with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
