Adopting a , French plan for amalgamating the Interests In-terests of the corporation and Its m- . ployees, B. F. Yoakum, chairman of the executive committee of the 'Frisco " system, has declared that a. home- . stead will be provided for every employee em-ployee of the system, from yiee-presi- - dent down to section hand. By this method Mr. Toakum hopes to establish an "entente cordlale" among ; the employees and a closer affiliation with the corporation. One of the things which it is expected to accomplish accom-plish Is the elimination of strikes. The first experiments are to be made on the Texas line. It Is declared that already a majority of the men haVe signified their Intention of taking advantage ad-vantage of the plan. : The Idea Is to sell to every employee a parcel -of live or ten acres of land tributary to the railroad, supplied with-water with-water and at a fair valuation, to be paid for In ten years, deferred payments pay-ments bearing a low rate of interest. One of the provisions in the contract is that in case an employee who has availed himself of this privilege dies or Is killed In an accident while In the service of the company, the land Is to be deeded in fee to his wife or family, without further obligations 09 their part. It is prdvlded. . further, that' should an employee discontinue his service with the company from any cause whatever, before the completion of his contract, all the money paid In by him will be returned, together with Interest at the rate, per annum that has been charged sgalnst him..,1 , |
