Show AMATEURS TO PLAY IN BILLIARD TOURNEY The amateur billiard championship of the United States will be contended for In Chicago In the tournament which will continue all this week. Never before be-fore has there been such an amount of talent from all over the country en- j tered and the average of play Is expected ex-pected to be higher than ever before. The only regret of the managers of the tournament is the absence of Wilson Wil-son P. Fobs, the present amateur champion, cham-pion, and Ferd Poggenberg, the New York expert. E. A. Wright and W. N. Sigourney, the San Francisco experts, are entered and their play has been a revelation to those who have seen them in practice. In fact. Wright has been made the favorite in the betting, and btth men are expected to finish in the money. The referees who will govern the contests will also be amateurs and the professionals will be confined to the side lines. |
