Show LOSS IN OMAHA IS OVER HALF A MILLION .' ' -; . , , :- - OMAHA. Jan. . The flre -which started Saturday night In the wholesale district was the most destructive In. the history of Omaha. The total loss ' will exceed half a million dollars. The flames continued to menace ad-Joining ad-Joining buildings until after 4 o'clock Sunday Sun-day morning: and all day 8unday a number num-ber of streams were kept pouring on the ruins. With sero temperature, was water was quickly frosen, and tonight the walls of the burned buildings resemble huge Ice castles. A half-block was burned over, but the Immense buildings contained great Jobbing stocks, which accounts for the enormous loss. The buildings themselves were valued at not to exceed $200,000 and were owned respectively by the Mercer and Millard estate. The principal losses- on stocks are: 8. D.
