Police Arrest I on onA Asa Con ounlA A father of five children was arrested late Monday after he allegedly threatened the life of his wife fired a shotgun blast over the heads of three of his children and held Police Sergeant Ser- Ser gean geant J. J Ferrin at gunpoint on the front porch of his north bench residence The frightened wife after running to the home of a neighbor neighbor neighbor neigh neigh- bor to call police hid in the neighbors neighbor's clothes closet The father walked into his home went upstairs carrying a shotgun and calmly told three of the five children Your mother told me meto meto meto to kill you you Shot Misses Children He lIe allegedly fired the shot which passed about six inches over oyer three of his children Officers Officers Officers cers said the pillow and the hair of the three youngsters smelled strongly of gunpowder following the incident The shotgun pellets penetrated a near by wall Ferrin responded to the call for police and reported that when he stepped to the front door of the home he was faced by the father who held the shotgun shotgun shot shot- gun pointed at t his stomach Other officers who rushed to the scene told the man You better put the gun up Officers reported the man then pointed the gun toward the ceiling and surrendered the weapon Eo Boy Tells Story An year old son weeping and frightened told the officers that his father had come into their upstairs bedroom and had told him Your mother told me to kill you He then fired the shot which barely missed the trio the boy told police The fhe year old man was booked in city jail for investigation tion of drunkenness and assault with a deadly weapon The children ranged in age from 8 years to five months
