Better Than Floods Anyone who had a barometer in his home Sunday Sunday knew old Dame Nature was stirring up something big in her weather cauldron The barometer kept dropping all day long despite Sundays Sunday's clear skies and mild sunny weather So there was no surprise to the initiated initiated initio when the snow began swirling Sunday Sunday Sun Sun- day evening It was surprising however to see the amount of oC snow which had been piled up by Monday morning orning Ordinary Ordinary Ordinary nary rubbers were no protection at all for those who ventured out before paths were shoveled and streets plowed The heavy snowfall plus slides on U. U S. S Highway 40 in Daniels Canyon and andon andon andon on U. U S. S 6 50 west of Price brought vehicular traffic to an abrupt halt east cast east of oC Salt Lake City Several hundred travelers travelers trav tray elers were stranded as a result in castern eastern eastern east cast ern Utah and the state highway patrol was stopping traffic Monday on many of the highways leading out of this city All this is a good example of Mother Natures Nature's destructive power power to to lay a strangling icy hand on our vaunted century communications and cause a great deal of inconvenience and damage On the other hand its it's an example of natures nature's beneficent power too too laying laying down a thick blanket of oC v snO over our mountains and ranges and valleys a blanket which guarantees life and growth grO growth and smiling bounty next summer Inasmuch as we cant can't have the latter without some of the former we might as well wen relax and make the best of it In In fact some of oC us might even enjoy it Its It's better than southern California's floods isn't it
