BONUS PAYMENT PR PROCEDURE TOLD Machinery to Speed Distribution Set Set- v WASHINGTON SHIN A-SHIN May lIay 1 UP iF- iF Postal officials officials' said today that machinery machinery machinery ma ma- chinery has been se set up to as assure quick payment ot of bonus money to veterans who vho desire to cash their baby bonds after they are distributed distributed in June Following Followings is the procedure outlined outlined outlined out out- lined by officials A veteran applies for payment ot of o his b bonus nus certificate in 50 bonds by sending an application blank with his fingerprints and other data to the nearest office of the veterans veterans' administration The veterans veterans' administration certifies certifies the application to the tho treasury treasury treasury treas treas- ury department The treasury department makes out an an order for the proper number of of 50 bonds plus a check to cover any odd amount These are sent to the federal reserve bank in erans eran's district The bank makes maltes up a bundle for each ach veteran containing as many 50 bonus bonu's baby bonds as the veteran yet vet eran cran is owed plus the check check- to cover the odd amount On June 15 these p packages will wil start to move novo to veterans through the registered ed letter letter- service of the postoffice department As s soon as as a av veteran receives his bonds he may take them to his local and apply for cash p payment pay pay- y- y ment The Thc p postmaster will forward the tho bonds to the nearest paying center and a a government check wilbe willbe will wil be sent to the veteran If a veteran chooses to hold his bonds as s a an au investment he may draw interest at 3 per pur cent a a year until 1945 1045
