PETITION ON GETS NEEDED NAMES Commission Faces Action on Request for M Municipal Power Plant The next move in the campaign of certain voters for a municipally owned light and power plant was put squarely up to the city commission Tuesday when v Alonzo Mackay county county coun coun- ty clerk announced that there were more than the required number of names on mt petitions asking that the city commission adopt an ordinance authorizing the municipal electric plant I Although Mr Mackeys Mackey's count was unofficial and no action will be taken by the commission until an official tabulation is completed by Miss Ethel macdonald city recorder it appeared certain Tuesday that more than the required names of qualified voters voter had been signed to the peti peti- tion Out of the more than names on the petition Mr Mackay was unable unable un un- un able to find on the county's list of ot qualified voters v he said Sponsors of the petition have asked that the city commission conduct con conS duct a hearing on the request Wednesday Wed Wed- Commission members said this would b be done if it the number of names on the petitions is certified by Miss macdonald before that time If not the petitions probably will be betaken betaken betaken taken up at the next meeting of the commission after Wednesday In case the commission fails falls to act acton acton acton on the petitions during the next 30 days or in incase case unfavorable action is taken the question of a municipal power plant will be put to the voters at the election nin In November
