E Gail Patterson assistant publisher and business manager of the Los Angeles An geles Illustrated Daily News A coroners coroner's jury found Davis guilty shooting and killing Patterson with homicidal intent and without just provocation Davis was held without ban ball and ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing June 2 The janitor refused to testify at atthe atthe atthe the inquest as to the cause of ot his quarrel Wednesday afternoon with Patterson and John W. W McGuire 66 purchasing agent for the newspaper who was wounded by two bullets fired by Dav Davis 5 Physicians said aid McGuire had a fighting chance to recover
